Policy briefs to integrate Nature-Based Solutions into water governance in the Mediterranean

Overview

From project results to policy action

Policy briefs synthesizing the results of the SIRENA project on water management using NBS in the MED region will be developed.

It will focus on promoting innovative governance approaches by highlighting how NBS can be integrated into cross-sectoral policy and planning processes. Targeted at authorities managing water and related sectors, including agriculture, environment, urban planning, and hydraulic infrastructure, the brief will outline key findings, impacts, and actionable recommendations to support the integration of NBS into governance and policy frameworks at national, regional, and EuroMED levels.

A total of eight policy briefs will be produced: one general brief on the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) policy, one per WML (a total of six), and one final brief summarizing the main policy recommendations. The national policy briefs will be produced in English and translated into each WML country's language. Project results will be communicated to the ministries responsible for water in participating countries. In addition, SEMIDE and WECEN will ensure the transfer of SIRENA outcomes to high-level meetings of the UfM.
