Business Models

Adaptive Nature-Positive business models tailored to the SIRENA WaterMed Labs

Overview

Making Nature-Based Solutions economically viable

Adaptive Nature-Positive business models tailored to SIRENA's WMLs will be developed (six (6) business models created). These models will include a Cost-Benefit Analysis to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of the upscaled NBS, while prioritising sustainable and circular water management practices.

Each business model will address the socio-economic, legal and technical enablers, as well as constraints and recommendations to overcome them. The task will also develop the economic model of Nature-based water management in terms of the estimations of CAPEX and OPEX, including direct and indirect benefits and costs associated with NBS adoption (e.g. ecosystem services quantification, revenue streams, job creation) starting from OL.

Surveys and interviews with a representative sample of local business communities (i.e., farmers, SMEs, industry, investors and other business stakeholders) will be used to create narratives that evaluate the impact of Nature-based water management on their business model particularly, the generated revenues and avoided costs from the implemented solutions.

SEMIDE with the support of UPC (regulatory/policy issues) and UNIBO will develop the methodology and interview and survey guidelines while WML leaders will collect the necessary data.
